WTF: Chris Brown, Rihanna Beating Reenacted in Pep Rally Skit

A photo has gone viral on the internet of three white students in blackface reenacting the 2009 Chris Brown assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The photo, which was posted on CNN iReport by Matt Dishler, shows one male restraining another student who is holding an umbrella while another male is portraying Rihanna bawled up on the floor. The male holding the Chris Brown character appears to be laughing while students and cheerleaders in the background have smiles on their faces.

This racist skit was reenacted during Waverly High School’s pep rally on Oct. 12. Apparently, this skit was part of annual competition for the title of “Mr. Waverly.”

No word on why school officials would allow such a skit to be a part of a pep rally for a football game. Yes, football players tackle each other on the field, but rough play on the field has nothing to do with abusive behavior towards women.

“I can testify there’s not a lot of racial diversity in that school whatsoever,” Dishler, a alumni of Waverly, told “We’re not really exposed to that at that school. I felt like something should have been done about this. I don’t believe the kids had any vicious intentions, but the administrators should have said that’s not exactly OK.”

Waverly Superintendent Joseph Yelich told the Daily Review that he’s meeting with school administrators and student groups on Tuesday to discuss this incident. No student has been suspended or reprimanded for their actions since this photo surfaced online.

Waverly High School is 72 percent white, according to the 2010 Census.
