Think Like A Man is No. 1 At Box Office With $33 Million in Opening Week!

Savvy marketing and a stellar cast proves to be the perferct formula for box office gold for Think Like a Man.

The date night movie knocked The Hunger Games off the No.1 spot. The movie based on Steve Harvey’s dating-advice best-seller, debuted as the top weekend draw with $33 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. That figure more than doubles what studio executives projected the film to gross.

Think Like a Man, which stars Michael Ealy, Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Hart, Meagan Good and Gabrielle Union, was produced for about $13 millon. It took home that figure during opening night last Friday.

Some of the cast even surprised movegoers at a few screenings in Atlanta and New York. Tyrese Gibson, Idris Elba, Kevin Hart and the film’s producer, Will Packer, showed up at the midnight viewing of the film at Atlantic Station in Atlanta.

Terrence J and Lala Anthony showed up at screening at the AMC in Times Square in New York.

10. “Mirror Mirror,” $4.1 million ($5.8 million international).
