Country singer Taylor Swift took home the top honor as artist of the year at the American Music Awards.

Swift was shocked as the crowd at Sunday’s event at the Nokia Theatre. She thanked her fans continuously before admitting she, “had no idea what to say” during her acceptance speech. She finally gained her composure and thanked her parents and a few others who helped propel her to stardom.

Swift always has a shocked expression when she accepts an award. But she had reason to be surprised this time around. She wasn’t the favorite, because Adele’s “21” is the top-selling album of the year. We’re sure Adele was pissed for a moment. But she didn’t go away empty-handed.
