T.I. Calls Out Floyd Mayweather For His ‘All Lives Matter’ Comments [Details]

T.I. is not here for Floyd Mayweather.

And to prove it, he called out the retired boxing champ on social media. During a recent interview with Tha Boxing Voice, the legendary boxer said that ‘all lives matter.’

“I’m here to say all lives matter,” Mayweather said. “You know, a lot of times, we get stuck, and we are followers. When you hear one person say, ‘Black Lives Matter,’ or, ‘Blue Lives Matter,’ all lives matter.”

Once T.I. caught wind of Mayweather’s comments, Tip said his remarks are insensitive, among other things on social media.

“Yo, @floydmayweather all our past personal differences & opinions of each other aside,” Tip wrote on Instagram. “This is socially irresponsible, inconsiderate, & insensitive. It mirrors delusional oblivion in a way only brainwashing tactics can achieve. This completely undermines & discredits the movements that fight for the plights of our people.”

Tip continued: “You’re a leader whether you know it or not. Don’t get so lost in personal possession or individual achievement that you lose sight of the things that are larger than all of us. Freedom, equality, justice, human rights, qualities of life that have been withheld (or given out sparingly) from our people for generations (400 yrs approximately). A true champion is a man of the people. A true champion makes sacrifices for the people & takes a stand against injustices for those who may not be strong enough or able to do so. A true champion is great inside as well as out.”

T.I. has been very vocal with his support with the Black Lives Matter movement. He participated in an Atlanta protest and released his politically-charged EP Us or Else last month.

“We say Black Lives Matter, you say ‘all lives,’” Tip rhymes on “Black Man,” a cut off the project. “But y’all ain’t the ones being hogtied / Persecuted and executed / One day, it’s gon’ be time for retribution / I hope you never see your son in an institution.”

This was the first time T.I. addressed Mayweather publicly since he was involved in a highly-publicized altercation with the boxer in Las Vegas in 2014.
