Basketball Wives executive producer Shaunie O’Neal is moving forward with expanding the Basketball Wives brand.

The ex-wife of Shaquille O’Neal has teamed up with Jumping the Broom producer Tracey Edmonds to bring the reality show to the big screen. The untitled pitch was picked up by Fox Searchlight Films and is now in development with Jumping The Broom writer Elizabeth Hunter.

Edmonds told Variety that O’Neal originally reached out to her via Twitter with hopes of giving the already-successful franchise new life. She added,”The beauty of a feature film is that we’ll have the ability to dig much deeper into the stories and characters that come from this very colorful world and create a very juicy, action-packed narrative.”

The movie will be loosely based on the the lives of O’Neal and some of her friends, Variety reports. It will center around a young woman who follows her boyfriend to Miami after he gets drafted into the NBA. She meets the other players’ wives and learns from their trials and tribulations in professional sports.

Hopefully, the movie will be based more on the Wives’ lives and not just a all out hair pulling, bottle throwing and table jumping event.
