Serena Has Another Meltdown At US Open

Don’t cross Serena Williams. She will confront you about it no matter who you are.

During the US Open finals yesterday, Serena yelled at chair umpire Eva Asderaki when she ruled that Serena’s loud “come on!,” interrupted opponent Sam Stosur’s attempt at a return. Asderaki  awarded Stosur the point because of the “hindrance rule” that states a player can’t verbally interfere with opponent’s points.

Williams was displeased. She thought that the umpire, Asderaki, was the same official who was in the chair for her infamous 2009 meltdown at the tournament. But it wasn’t her. Williams yelled:

“Aren’t you the one who screwed me over last time here? Yeah, you are.”

Later during a changeover Williams let the umpire have it. She stood and glared at the chair umpire before she gave her a piece of her mind.

“A code violation because I expressed who I am? We’re in America last I checked. Am I gonna get violated for a water? Really, don’t even look at me. I promise you, don’t look at me because I am not the one. Don’t look my way.”

If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way, because you’re  out of control! You’re totally out of control, you’re a hater, and you’re  unattractive inside. Who would do such a thing?  And I never complain. Wow… What a loser! You get a code violation because I express my end? We’re in America last I checked.

“Can I get a water or am I gonna get violated for a water? Really, don’t even look at me! I promise you, don’t look at me, ’cause I am not the one. Don’t look my way.”

Stosur went on to win 6-2, 6-3 in an upset. Serena was gracious as she greeted Stosur at the net following the loss and didn’t dwell on the incident. Serena was fined $2,000 for verbal assualt on Asderaki.
