Rockets Insult Jeremy Lin By Giving Carmelo Anthony His Jersey

Free agent Carmelo Anthony is on a tour of select cities so that they can pitch why he should join their squad.

On the second stop, Anthony visited the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. The Rockets decorated the Toyota Center with Anthony in an effort to lure him to their team. And the NBA organization may have hurt Jeremy Lin’s feeling during the process.

The Rockets displayed images of Anthony in a Houston jersey outside the Toyota Center. On the videoboard, Anthony is wearing his usual No. 7, which he switched to from No. 15 upon joining the Knicks.

There’s just one problem: Jeremy Lin, who is still under contract with the Rockets, wore No. 7 last year. Lin did not directly address the issue, he did tweet a Bible verse a few hours after the image of Anthony went viral.

Lin tweeted, “Luke 6:29 – If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.”

It is widely assumed that Lin and his $8.3 million salary for next season will have to be cleared if Anthony decides to sign with Houston. Its rumored that the Rockets have tried to trade Lin since last season.
