Paula Patton wants a divorce, but Robin Thicke isn’t ready to throw in the towel.

The Blurred Lines singer is making an attempt to salvage their marriage. Thicke fought up until the last moment before they announced a separation. He cancelled three tour dates (Atlanta, Orlando and North Carolina) to be near Patton.

Unfortunately it hasn’t been enough to save what is left of the relationship. But Thicke hasn’t given up hope.

“I’m just trying to get her back,” Thicke told TMZ as he arrived in Washington, D.C. on Thursday before his concert.

While wearing his wedding ring, Thicke dedicated Lost Without U to Patton at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va.

“For those of you that don’t know, my wife and I got separated a few days ago, but I want everybody here to know that I’m trying to get my girl back,” Thicke said. “You know she told me, she said you should go out there and tell them the truth. You should tell them that you’re trying to get me back. She’s a good woman, you know. I want to dedicate this song to her. I wrote this about her,” he said before launching into the heartfelt ballad.

Earlier this week, the singer and actress announced their separation in a joint statement to PEOPLE. “We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”

TMZ claims split was triggered by Thicke’s racy performance with Miley Cyrus at the 2013 VMAs. A source told the website, Paula felt “utterly disrespected” by his antics. However, Robin told TMZ that is not true.

In a statement on his website, he thanked his fans for their support.

“I want to thank everyone for the well wishes these last few days,” he said. “My fans mean everything to me. I’m looking forward to getting back on out on the road and performing in Washington, D.C. this Thursday, and the rest of the tour. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!”
