Rihanna has been named the new face of MAC Cosmetics.
RiRi is the first artist to be named a “creative partner” for the make-up line. Four new MAC collections, called RiRi [Hearts] MAC, will hit the shelves throughout the year. Rihanna’s first product will be a red lipstick called RiRi Woo, which is inspired by MAC’s popular red Ruby Woo shade. The lipstick is expected to hit shelves around the same time as her Diamonds Tour begins, May 4 or 5.
Rihanna will also debut blushes, eye shadows, fake eyelashes, nail polish and makeup bags. There will be 31 products in total. Rihanna posted the photo below of her line along with the caption: “That’s right baby, I’m a #MACgal now! Get into it, package designed and products created from scratch by yours truly! Thanks to the EPIC team at #MAC for giving me the opportunity to play and share my favorite shit with my fans and yours!”
“Being creative is something that I love, so I can put that into different outlets,” Rihanna told Women’s Wear Daily of MAC deal. “Music happens to be the first thing that I gravitated to, and now music opens doors to just so many different opportunities. They all tie in. My makeup looks, my fashion looks. They help me to express myself as an artist. I think it helps people to understand me or my mood, my story.”
And it appears MAC is supportive of Rihanna’s relationship with Chris Brown.
“She’s a grown woman, and whatever makes her happy makes us happy,” John Demsey, president of Estee Lauder (MAC’s parent company) said. “Life’s complicated. Far be it for us to judge.”
Rihanna’s line is expected to generate around $15 million globally.
