Richie Incognito Reportedly Sent Racist Texts To Jonathan Martin [Details]

Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito sent text messages to teammate Jonathan Martin that were racist and threatening, according to multiple reports.

The NFL is currently investigating claims that Incognito has harassed Martin since his rookie season last year. The Dolphins announced on Sunday that Incognito has been suspended indefinitely for misconduct related to the treatment of Martin, who abruptly left the team a week ago to receive help for emotional issues.

On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared details of one voicemail Incognito allegedly left Martin back in April. According to Schefter, NFL officials has listened to the voicemail that contained the following message:

“Hey, wassup, you half n—er piece of sh–. I saw you on Twitter, you been training ten weeks. (I want to) sh– in your f—ing mouth. (I’m going to) slap your f—ing mouth. (I’m going to) slap your real mother across the face (laughter). F— you, you’re still a rookie. I’ll kill you.”

Incognito, a 319-pound ninth-year pro, is white. Martin, a 312-pound tackle, is biracial. FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo also pointed out that a team trip to Las Vegas that Martin was allegedly forced to fund took place in April, which was the same month that the voicemail was reportedly left for Martin.

Martin remained absent from practice Monday one week after he suddenly left the team. The Dolphins and NFL continued their investigation into allegations by Martin’s representatives that he was bullied. The NFL Players Association also planned to look into the matter.
