Talk show icon Oprah Winfrey believed she was doing a good deed by buying her father’s barber shop after it went into foreclosure.

Oprah’s father Vernon Winfrey, who has been cutting hair in Nashville for almost 50 years, moved into a brand new shop co-owned with his wife Barbara last year. But the shop experience some hard times the couple fell behind on their payments, which caused it to go into foreclosure. Oprah waited until it went to auction and bought the property for $475,000 and gave it to her dad. But the move infuriated his estranged wife Barbara.

Barbara, has accused Oprah of  forcing her out of her husband’s life. Now the billionaire has become embroiled in a bitter feud with her stepmother. Barbara claims Oprah used her fortune to take control of the business.

‘I know what is going on. I’m tired of it, and I’ve had enough,’ Barbara Winfrey told WSMV TV in Nashville. “There is no reason for it to go into foreclosure like this. The property is upside down, which is what a lot of properties are. It cost us $481,000 to build this building, but it’s only worth $350,000.”

Barbara claims she was in the process of getting another loan, but Vernon refused to take out one on the advice from Oprah.

“People are giving him wrong advice, and it’s leaving me in a situation where all I can do is fight for me,” Barbara said. “He believes what he’s told. His daughter doesn’t care about the community. His daughter doesn’t care about the barbershop. But I do.”

Vernon, 78, filed for divorce from Barbara on Tuesday. She believes he does not understand the decisions he is making. But Vernon begs to differ. He said he understands everything clearly.

“My wife and I, we have not been getting along well, and I did not want to endow myself to another drawn-out, struggling debt,” Vernon told the news station in a phone interview.
