Oprah is reportedly ready to expand her empire.
Not only does Oprah want to compete in the magazine and television network industries, but she’s ready to give it a shot on the grocery store shelves. The billionaire filed five trademark applications at the end of October with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the New York Post reports.
Applications were filed to trademark the name “Oprah’s Organics,” which foods include salad dressings, sauces, soups, dips, frozen vegetables and beverages. The media mogul also filed an application for a line of bath and body products including soap, bubble bath, moisturizer, lip balm, hand cream, hair products and other personal-care items. Oprah also filed one for “catering services.”
Two more applications were filed in September and August for Oprah’s Harvest and Oprah’s Farm, also reference “food, beverages, agricultural and catering services.”
In April, a business registration was filed for “Oprah’s Farm LLC,” and the Oprah Winfrey Networks (OWN) business address was attached. The registration was filed with the Hawaii Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs. A rep for Oprah said the trademarks were related to Oprah’s farm in Hawaii.
