Nicki Minaj kept her promise and gave a free concert in New York after backing out of Summer Jam.
There was a line of fans that stretched five blocks at noon Tuesday with hopes of landing tickets at the Roseland Ballroom. Some camped out at 5 p.m. the night before to be amongst 1,500 fans. Minaj didn’t disappoint giving a two-hour concert with surprise guest Foxy Brown, Lil Wayne, Drake, Cam’ron and Mack Maine.
The concert was also broadcast on Pepsi/Fuse free live stream. One of the most notable moments of the show came when Minaj brought Foxy on stage.
“I believe in giving props where props are duem” Minaj said before Foxy Brown appeared to perform B.K. Anthem and Oh Yeah. “And sometimes it happens to be one person that has influenced me more than any other woman. I wanna bring the baddest bitch out that ever did this shit.”
Minaj and Foxy embraced.
“This is my heart, this is my sister,” Foxy said. “I Minaj-ieaj to the death.”
“Broken Silence changed my fu**ing life,” continued Nicki. “I always loved Foxy, but when she put out Broken Silence, I knew that you were an innovator, intelligent, beautiful, fiesty, crazy sometimes, but ahead of your time. And Foxy, I want to thank you for really being one of my biggest influences in the game. And a lot of times we don’t really give it up like we should. There isn’t a female rapper in the world that has opened more doors up for me than you. You and Lauryn, so thank you.”
