The Miami Dolphins terminated Chad Johnson’s contract just 24 hours after he was arrested in a domestic battery case involving his wife Evelyn Lozada.

Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, was released from jail on $2,500 bond on Sunday after Lozada accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home. Johnson was charged with simple domestic battery, which is a misdemeanor.

Miami coach Joe Philbin had already informed the wide receiver that his spot was in jeopardy five days earlier because of the use of profanity during media interviews. Johnson had been battling for a spot on the team after a disappointing season with the New England Patriots in 2011.

The newlyweds fight came barely a month after Johnson married Lozada on July 4th. The twosome landed a reality show on VH1, which chronicled the events leading up to the wedding and the ceremony. The Ev & Ocho show is scheduled to air in September.

Johnson allegedly head-butted Lozada while the two argued in their Smart car, the Sun Sentinel reports. The Basketball Wives star then ran to a neighbor’s house and called the police. Meanwhile, Johnson started screaming: “I don’t give a f…, I don’t give a f… about my career!”

Lozada has a laceration that is approximately three inches in length, according to the police report. Johnson told police he yelled “f— it” and his wife head butted him causing the laceration.

Lozada claims she confronted Johnson about a condom receipt she found in the drunk of the car while unloading groceries about 7 p.m. Saturday night.
