Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade asked a Chicago judge to suspend ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches-Wade’s visitation rights with their two children after she was arrested for attempted child abduction over the weekend.

Wade’s attorney James Pritikin filed an emergency motion and appeared in court Tuesday, hours before the Heat beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4 of the NBA finals. Wade said the incident has not affected his play during the series. A hearing for the motion was set for June 26.

According to court documents, Wade’s sister arrived at Siohvaughn’s house to pick up the boys around noon Saturday to make an afternoon flight from Chicago to Miami so they could be in South Florida for Father’s Day. No one answered the door and after several hours she called the Cook County Sheriff’s Office to the home.

Siohvaughn tried to leave the home without the children when one of the deputies tried taking her into custody. The boys were with another woman named Nadgee Alarcon at the time of the arrest inside the home. Wade, later, hired a private jet to bring his sons home early Sunday.

Siohvaughn was charged with two counts of attempted child abduction, two counts of unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest, and one count of resisting arrest. All the charges are misdemeanors. She posted $10,000 bond on Monday and is due back in court in August.

Siohvaughn insists she’s done nothing wrong. Funches-Wade claimed she was never asked to hand the children over to Wade’s sister.

“I was never once asked to turn over the children,” she told CBS Chicago said in a phone interview. “I haven’t done anything, except for what I know is best for my children. I’ve fought and I’ve protected them as best I can. I don’t have the fame he has, I don’t have access to the millions of dollars that he has, so I’m not able to do some of the things he’s been able to do.”

The couple divorced in 2010 and the NBA star was awarded custody of the boys in March 2011.
