Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade used to have a clean-cut image in the NBA.

But Wade showed some unsportsmanlike behavior against the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night. Wade kicked Bobcats guard Ramon Sessions in the groin. No foul was called on Wade. The former Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year recipient rewarded Sessions with the sneaky kick after the Bobcats guard applied a hard foul.

Sessions and Wade exchanged some words after the play, but nothing came of it. Many believed the kick was intentional but Wade said it wasn’t.

After the Heat won the game, Sessions told reporters he thought Wade intentionally kicked him in the crotch. “I thought he did it on purpose, and it wasn’t called,” Sessions said.

The NBA reviewed the incident on Thursday and determined that Wade intentionally kicked Sessions. He is suspended one game without pay.

“I’m far from being a dirty player + my intent was never 2 kick Ramon Sessions,” Wade tweeted Thursday night in reaction to the suspension. “I just reacted to the contact that I got from him…. More than anything, I think of my boys watchin me be4 retaliating 2ward any player. Im moving 4ward + ready 2 get back on the court in MIL.”
