Reality star Michaele Salahi and Journey guitarist Neal Schon are ready to tell their side of the story.

Salahi and Schon are speaking out about their relationship, which has caused a media stir after Michaele’s husband Tareq Salahi thought she had been abducted on Sept. 14. But in fact she left her husband and was on the road with Schon and his band.

“It’s like a fairy tale. It is, it really is,” Schon told The Daily Beast. “I’m very happy, very happy after waiting for her for 15 years. Now I want to get beyond all this media hype that Tareq has put out there. It’s really quite embarrassing.”

Michaele, 46, launched to infamy as one of the White House party crashers before her role on Bravo’s unsuccessful The Real Housewives of D.C. Then she revealed in her book Cirque du Salahi that she suffered from multiple sclerosis for nearly 20 years. She admitted the disease was the deciding factor when choosing her husband. She had been dating both Tareq and Schon in the late ’90s.

“I chose Tareq over Neal because I thought life would be less stressful living on a vineyard in Virginia.,” Michaele said. “Life on the road with a rock band … well, I thought I might not have been able to keep up.”

While researching for her book last year, Michaele revealed to Schon that she still had feelings for him. The couple admits they had been communicating via text “for a while” over a device a friend had sneaked to Michaele.

“Neal was like, ‘Are we going to do this forever?” And I said, ‘No, we’re not,’” Michaele said of when she finally decided to be with Schon. “I began to see he really loved me. I had to begin to feel it completely – in my soul.”
