Oklahoma State All-American Marcus Smart was suspended three games as punishment for shoving a Texas Tech fan during Saturday’s loss.

Cowboys coach Travis Ford announced the suspension during a press conference on Sunday. Smart expressed remorse in a brief statement at a news conference Sunday evening.

“I want to apologize to the fan, whose name is Jeff Orr, I want to apologize to him, my teammates, my coach,” Smart said at a press conference Sunday evening in Stillwater, Okla. “This is not how I condone myself. I just can’t let that happen again. It’s a lesson I’ll have to learn from. It’s all upon me. I truly apologize to all those that are important to me. I feel I let my teammates down.”

The incident took place with less than seven seconds left in the game. Smart tried to block Tech’s Jaye Crockett’s dunk attempt but stumbled out of bounds behind the basket. When he got up he exchanged words with a fan in the front row before he pushed him with two hands.

Smart was given a technical foul in the final moments of a 65-61 loss in Lubbock. It’s still unclear exactly what the fan said to provoke Smart. Smart allegedly told his coaches that the fan called him the N-word. The fan in question — Jeff Orr — denied saying a racial slur but admitted to calling Smart ‘a piece of crap.’

Orr, who drives six hours to watch the Raiders, has volunteered to not attend any more home or away games this season. Watch the incident go down below.

Orr has a history of egging on players. He was spotted giving the f— you sign to Texas A&M’s Bryan Davis after a dunk in a previous incident.
