Lindsay Lohan just can’t stay out of trouble.

Lohan was arrested after allegedly punching Tiffany Eve Mitchell in the face at Avenue nightclub in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. Lohan, 26, was arrested at 4 a.m. and charged with third-degree assault.

The Liz & Dick star got into an argument with Mitchell, 28, in the club and struck the woman in the face with her hand. TMZ reports that the argument between the two women was over Max George from the music band The Wanted.

Lohan, Max, The Wanted’s Jay and Tom were all hanging out at the club. But things took a turn for the worse when Lohan became enraged after Max began talking to Mitchell in the club. Max was turned off by both women and found another female to flirt with in the club.

Lohan tried to flee the scene when New York police arrested her outside the club, TMZ reports. “Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?,” Lohan was filmed yelling by TMZ, after cops slapped on the handcuffs outside Avenue nightclub around 4 a.m.

Lohan was released several hours later after she was taken into custody. She was given a desk appearance ticket for misdemeanor assault and must appear in court on Jan. 11.

Lindsay’s has a lengthy legal history, with a 2007 arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) in California starting a chain of events leading to rehab, jail and further charges including theft of a necklace.

Lindsay finally completed probation in March this year, but has since run into further problems and could faces charges of lying to police after a June car accident near on the Pacific Coast Highway near Los Angeles. She told officers she was a passenger in the car involved, when she is believed to have been driving.
