Justin Timberlake has been making the media rounds after talking home the MTV Video Music Awards Vido Vanguard award over the weekend.

A few of his tops included a visit to Sway’s Shade 34 show and New York’s 105.1 Breakfast Club. During his interview with Sway, the Timberlake opened up about his 20/20 Experience Part II album, his friendship with Timbaland and what he thought about Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance.

The 13 Most Hilarious Memes & Moments Of The 2013 MTV VMAs

The Former NSYNC even revealed what he thought about the Kanye West diss. Check out a few excerpts from that interview below.

On Kanye West’s critique of “Suit & Tie”:

“At the end of the day, it’s just music.  I love Suit and Tie, it reminds me of the music I grew up listening to. I respect his opinion because I think he’s a genius… but I don’t share that opinion. It’s just not a big deal… to do it at SNL too… it’s not that big a deal.  I don’t know that he fully understands what I can do, and that’s ok… as a matter of fact, Jay said the same thing.”

On what fans can expect from The 20/20 Experience Part II (featuring Jay Z and Drake):

“The first half was the freshman love, so you wanna go to her house and impress her parents.  Then you realize she has an older sister, that’s a senior, dark hair and tattoos and she’ll give you that look, ‘I’ll turn you out.’ That’s the second half. Sonically, it sounds darker.”

On why he co-signs Miley’s performance:

“She’s doing what 20 year old girls do.  The difference is she’s got a microphone, she’s on stage at the VMAs… Take it easy on her, she’s 20 years old, she’s a young adult and she can do that.”

Timberlake, later, sat down with the Breakfast club and talked about the NSYNC reunion, One Direction and working with Jay-Z. Read a few excerpts below.

On the *NSYNC reunion: “It was kinda like old times, but we were moving a lot slower.”

On One Direction: “I have not seen them on stage, but I’d be willing to say that we’re better than them.  But I don’t feel like I’m laying down any gauntlet. … I’ve seen them a couple times and I like those guys.  It’s interesting to see this whole wave of that come back around.”

On working with Jay Z: “I wanted to do a record with him on FutureSex/LoveSounds and he at that time had done [‘Deja Vu’] with Beyoncé.  He was working on his own record as well so he didn’t want to do too many things.  But the record was ‘My Love.’  It ended up being an interesting blessing in disguise ’cause I think Tip’s verse was phenomenal.”

On The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2: “I don’t look at this as a second album.  I look at this as the second half of a double album. … This half is probably like the older, more experienced sister.”

On how he stays grounded: “I guess my mother… Growing up in the South, you’re taught that you’re just as much like the guy who lives next door to you as you are an individual, so you get a sense of community.  You’re kinda taught that you are just like your neighbor.  I got lucky ’cause I got great parents.”
