Jay-Z debut his new song, “Glory” two days after his wife Beyonce gave birth to their daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

The couple also released a statement on Monday after word got out they welcomed their first child, which was seven pounds, on Saturday. An official statement said: “We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. … It was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”

Jay-Z also wrote a touching song about Blue that he released on his website Life and Times on Monday. Jay-Z gives details that Blue was conceived in Paris and even reveals that Beyonce had a miscarriage at some point.

Jay begins the song revealing that there had been some ‘false alarms and false starts:

Baby I’ll paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you

False Alarms and false starts

All made better by the sound of your heart

All the  pain of the last time

I prayed so hard it was the last time

Your mama said you danced for her

Did you wiggle your hands for her

Jay-z  then reminisced about when Blue was conceived and how the miscarriage affected the couple:

You don’t yet know what swagga is but you was made in Paris

Yo mama woke up the next day and shot her album package

Last time the miscarriage was so tragic we was afraid you’d disappear

But nah baby you’re magic.

So there you have it. Sh*t happens

Just make sure the plane you on is bigger than your carry-on baggage

Everybody goes through stuff

Life is a gift love open it up

You’re a child of destiny, you’re the child of my destiny

You’re my child with a child from child of Destiny’s Child

That’s a hell of a recipe…. Glory Glory Glory”

Jay and Bey wed in 2008 in a private ceremony after a long courtship. Beyonce announced her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards with a simple rub of her swollen belly in August.
