For starters, the 2011 Nike Mag sneakers are limited edition shoes based on the 1980s “Back to the Future” film. Secondly, there were only 1,500 pairs made. And thirdly, the sneakers will be auctioned off on eBay.
These extremely light Nike Mag shoes are the company’s first rechargeable pair. It glows up to five hours between charges.
According to TMZ, the first pair were sold for $37,000 to a buyer at an auction in Los Angeles. Ebay’s bids has ranged from 99 cents to $4,000. But one Ebay buyer did win a bid for $7,600.
The Marty McFly shoes are all the buzz, lately. Everyone wants to know if the Nike shoes will ever decrease in price? Less than an hour from release, the prices shot up to $2000 on Ebay, with bids increasing to $4000.
Nike created the limited-edition shoe based on a glowing pair worn by the McFly character in the popular 1989 movie “Back to the Future II.” Michael J. Fox played McFly in the movie, which was set in the year 2015.
The shoes were designed to be an exact replica to the original form from the movie. The sneaker is an exact match down to the glowing led panel.
Ebay’s auctions began September 8 and will continue until Sept. 18. All of the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson‘s disease research.
Apparently, these shoes aren’t meant to be worn. Would you pay $4000 or higher for shoes you can’t wear?
