Ciara Refused To Say Future’s Name While Announcing Billboard Music Awards Nominees

Ciara revealed she’s happy to be engaged to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson\.

But it appears she still harbors a grudge against her baby daddy. Earlier today, Ciara announced the nominees for the Billboard Music Awards. When it came to announce her ex-fiance Future’s name in the category of Top Rap Artist, she went silent. Her co-host Ludacris had to say his name.

It was an awkward moment. But the I Bet singer is keeping busy. Ahead of her hosting duties at next month’s Billboard Music Awards, Ciara covers the May 2016 cover of ESSENCE.

The cover, which is photographed by Dennis Leupold, bills Ciara as a “modern mom” and promises that she “gets real about the men in her life, that ring, and finally finding her bliss.”

Check out a few highlights from the issue, which hits newsstands April 15, below.

On Baby Future: “I’d always wanted to have my own family. And my pregnancy was planned when I was at a point in my life when I was finally ready to take on the responsibility.”

On her breakup with Future: “That wasn’t necessarily part of my vision. But the moment I realized I was going to be a single mother, I had to reflect and reorganize my thoughts. I decided to trust that God had a plan for me, and move forward one day at a time.”

On Russell Wilson: “I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me. I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all.”
