Chris Brown made a triumphant return to the Grammy’s on Sunday night.

Brown performed on the Grammy stage twice and even took home the Best R&B album award. Many applauded his success, but many also criticized the Grammy producers for allowing him the spotlight.

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich defended their decision to allow Brown to perform during an interview with Gayle King. He said, “I just believe people deserve a second chance. The year he had this year, really brought him back into the public. He really deserved a second chance.”

Some celebrities didn’t feel the same way. Following Brown’s win and performance on Feb. 12, ‘The View’ co-host Sherri Shepherd, country singer Miranda Lambert, singer Michelle Branch and Jack Osbourne slammed the Grammys for his appearance on the show.

Lambert tweeted from her seat at the event:

“How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange. And Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl…Not cool that we act like that didn’t happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys,” said Lambert, referring to song, “Gunpowder and Lead, about a woman taking revenge against her abusive husband.
Jack Osbourne tweeted, “Chris Brown . . . people don’t forget! #chrisbrownbeatswomen,” reality star Jack Osbourne wrote. “If Chris Brown had worn a wife beater, the irony would eclipse the whole show.”

Michelle Branch tweeted, “Trying not to go off on a rant but . . . Chris Brown *bites tongue* have we forgiven him? #Grammys.”

Sherri Shepherd tweeted, “Looks like all is forgiven w/ Chris Brown.

Brown later retaliated against his critics with one of his infamous Twitter rants. Brown tweeted:

“Strange how we pick and choose who to hate! Let me ask u this. Our society is full of rappers (which I listen to) who have sold drugs (poisoning). But yet we glorify them and imitate everything they do. Then right before the worlds eyes a man shows how he can make a Big mistake and Learn from it, but still has to deal with day to day hatred!

You guys love to hate!!! But guess what??? HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That’s the ultimate F–K OFF! Guess its time to release the video SOON!!!!! Lol

IM BACK SO WATCH MY BaCK as I walk away from all this negativity #teambreezygrammy”

Brown, who later deleted his tweets, watched his career crash and burn after he assaulted his former girlfriend, Rihanna, before the 2009 Grammy Awards. He’s currently on probation for the assault.
