The love triangle between Chris Brown, Karrueche Tran and Rihanna is officially over.

Brown decided to end things with Karrueche Tran after his love fest with Rihanna became public. He admitted his close bond with Rihanna was the reason for the split, but stopped short of saying the exes had reconciled.

“I have decided to be single to focus on my career,” Brown told E! News. “I love Karrueche very much, but I don’t want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna. I’d rather be single, allowing us to both be happy in our lives.”

Brown announced the breakup just one day after he and Rihanna was spotted together at Jay-Z’s concert at the Barclays center. Prior to the concert, Rihanna was seen leaving  the Gansevoort Park Hotel, followed just 10 minutes later by Brown.

The concert date marked the third night Rihanna and Chris have been seen out together in New York. According to E!, RiRi took off Brown’s shirt in Griffin nightclub on Monday and began dancing, hugging and kissing in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Page Six reports that after the grinding session in VIP, the pair went to the bathroom together and when Rihanna reemerged again she looked ruffled.

Brown, later, was spotted leaving Rihanna’s hotel room on Tuesday before he picked up Karrueche from a day of shopping. Although Brown is not confirming the rumors that he and Rihanna are back together, he is publicly admitting that the two have been hanging out.

Many speculated a breakup was immenint because Tran has been tweeting about a split. She tweeted after Brown and Rihanna were seen together,”There’s a difference between a man and a boy….I prefer men…..Bye baby.”

Brown remains on probation for his 2009 beating of Rihanna. Last week, a judge refused to revoke Breezy’s probation after the singer tested positive for marijuana.
