Jay-Z kicked off the first of eight concerts he’s performing at the Barclays Center Friday night.

Hova christened the venue, which is home of the Brooklyn Nets, in front of 18,000 fans wearing the team’s jersey with his last name ‘Carter’ and the number four on the back. While he walked on stage, there were pictures of famous faces born in Brooklyn which included Michael Jordan, Aaliyah and Al Capone.

Hova, opened his two-hour show with the song Where I’m From, where he raps about his upbringing in Brooklyn’s Marcy projects complex that is 15 minutes away from Barclays. He then gave a tribute to Notorious B.I.G. who is also from Brooklyn. He performed some of the rap Biggie’s hit Juicy as the crowd sang along. A Biggie Hologram even appeared onstage. He held a moment of silence for the rapper, who was shot to death in 1997.

Big Daddy Kane was Jay’s only guest performer with hits Ain’t No Half Steppin’ and Warm It Up, Kane. Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, Adrienne Bailon, Star Jones, Al Roker, Jerry Stackhouse, Dave Chappelle, Magic Johnson, J Cole, The Dream were all in attendance.
