A disgruntled baker retaliated against a client by providing the engagement party with a turd-shaped cake.
The cake, which resembled feces with corn in it, also read, ‘eat sh*t. And Emma McDonald, owner and operator of Oh Cakes near Invercargill, New Zealand, meant every word. She claims to have had a bad experience with the client, so she wanted to send them a parting gift without any fair warning.
According to McDonald, she was contracted to produce a cake for an engagement party by the bride-to-be’s sister. The customer had $30 left on a $50 voucher after buying something else, and she asked McDonald to bake her a chocolate cake for the party.
McDonald felt offended by the amount money offered to make the cake ($30), so she decided to make a turd cake for the occasion.
“Your [sic] left with a $30 voucher and you want a cake still?? ok cool – give me some ideas??,” McDonald wrote on Facebook. “Oh wait you have none apart from wanting chocolate. I have a brilliant idea for your cake!!! – so here it is, your turd cake! Hope you learn your lesson.”
The customer was shocked when the cake arrived. The unidentified woman responded to McDonald’s post with: “We r just at my sister’s engagement and got your cake, we and every1 else is absolutely disgusted.”
McDonald told the New Zealand Herald she had “no regrets at all about what I did.”
“I feel she got what she deserved,” she continued. “I don’t make cakes as a business. It is just a hobby and I’m taking it all with good humour.”
